Yellowpine Scones

  4 cups all-purpose flour 2 t. baking powder 1 t. salt 4 T. shortening 1 1/2 cups warm water 2 quarts oil for frying Mix dry ingredients then cut in shortening. Slowly add water while mixing. Dough will be sticky. Let sit for 20 minutes then heat oil to 350 degrees. Make sure the oil is deep enough to keep the scones off the bottom of the pan. Form scones either individually by hand or roll dough out on floured surface and cut into three or four inch squares. Get dough nice and thin! Deep fry for 2-3 minutes pers side. 

Grandma Cherrie's Raisin Cookies

2 c. raisins 1 c. water 1 c. shortening 1 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 t. vanilla 1 t. salt 1 t. soda 1 t. baking powder 1 1/2 t. cinnamon 1/2 t. nutmeg 8 c. flour  1 c. walnuts Boil raisins in water, for 5 min. Allow to cool. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Add remaining ingredients. Bake at 350 for 10-12 min.
